Police FC players go on strike over uncleared arrears

With four days to their Star Times Uganda Premier League opening match against Bul FC, Police FC preparations have hit a snug following a strike of their players over eight months uncleared arrears, Bigwhale sports has learnt.

Like we reported yesterday that the team was supposed to commence training at their new home ground Star Times stadium today ahead of the 2018/19 StarTimes Uganda Premier League that officially kicks off this Friday 28th August 2018, no player turned up apart from head coach Abdallah Mubiru and his assistant Luyinda John Ayala.

When we conducted one of the players who preferred anonymity in a phone call interview, he said

Football is our bread and butter but this is beyond, we have families to take care of and when we are not paid for over seven month yet football is the only job then we are left with no option but go on strike may be that way they can feel our pain because we have been very patient and if nothing is done we shall not play until we have been attended to.

The Cops were scheduled to play a build up match against Proline FC tomorrow (Wednesday) but at the moment it’s not certain whether it will be played.

It remains to be seen if this problem will immediately be addressed by Police with only four days to their league opening match on Saturday against Bul FC at the Star Times stadium.

As usual we shall keep you posted about the development on this story.
