FT: Uganda Hippos 5-1 South Sudan

The Uganda national U-20 team team Hippos cruised past South Sudan 5-1 in the first leg of the AFCON U-20 qualifiers match played at the Star Times Stadium, Lugogo on Saturday evening.

Goals from Mustapha Kizza who scored from a penalty, Steven Mukwala, Sadam Masereka, Hamis Tibita and a beauty from Allan Okello were all that the Hippos needed to cancle out Mustafa Mujuzi’s own goal.

The Hippos took the lead through left back Mustafa Kizza scoring from the spot in the 25th minute after a foul on Steven Mukwala.

Six minutes later assistant skipper Musitafa Mujjuzi scored in his own net to bring the game to a tie at half time.

In the Second half, Mathias Lule did make his first change with Sadam Masereka replacing Joshua Okiror to spark more life into the game.

The Hippos restored their lead through Steven Mukwala in the 67th minute with a poachers finish.

Four minutes later, Maseruka made it three after great inter play between Frank Tumwesigye who found Allan Okello that finally released Maseruka to calmly slot home.

The Hippos were then reduced to ten men after left back Mustafa Kiiza was ridiculously sent off in the 76th minute.

Lule made his change in the 86th minute with Hamis Tibita replacing Steven Mukwala to score off his first touch from a Julius Poloto free kick in the 87th minute.

With three minutes of added time, Allan Okello dribbled past the South Sudan left back on the right and cut inside to score a beauty from a bender out side the box to make it 5-1 and was then taken off for Faisal Sekyanzi.

South Sudan only had eleven players at disposal after nine of their players were denied access to play due to over age in their passports that was not in line with CAF rules and regulations.

The return leg will be played on 22nd April 2018 in Juba.
