Inside the life of Khasim Kyazze – Uganda cranes’ chief fan

Khasim Kyazze is a name that is slowly but steadily becoming popular in the ears of many Ugandan football lovers within and outside the pearl of Africa because of his passionate support for Uganda Cranes and KCCA FC. This is evidenced with his customised painting of his entire body in respective colours of his teams on match days. The very passionate and down to earth fan started this as a joke in 2013 not knowing it would at one point become his livelihood

In an exclusive interview with Bigwhale sports he said,

I remember when I started supporting as a joke in 2013 during a Uganda Cranes game. Some fans used to paint themselves partly so i decided to paint my entire face and upon entering the stadium with a lot of shyness, I was so surprised when a lot people applauded me for the passion and love  I expressed for my country and from then on I never looked back.

 

His creativity in supporting has seen him become arguably Uganda Cranes’ chief fan shadowing¬† Dickson Ssewanyana popularly known as Uncle Money.

Khasim is very optimistic and focused that he will achieve his goals and also happy for what he has so far achieved.

I am very positive I will achieve my goal and target of getting in touch with different chief fans of nations around Africa and we unite under football. So far, it’s promising and glad for what I have achieved.

Some of his achievements.

Khasim Kyazze acquired his passport without incurring any cost from his pocket through his passionate support and as soon as acquiring it he got a chance and won an air ticket to Gabon courtesy of Eco bank in January 2017 to go support Uganda Cranes at the African cup of nations were he was voted best fan in the match between Uganda Cranes against Egypt receiving a plaque. He was also a part of the few travelling Ugandan fans to Morocco for the CHAN tournament in January 2018 as well as the CECAFA tournament in Kenya in November/December 2017 and he recently aquired a second hand motor cycle worth shs. 1M as a token of appreciation from FUFA president Eng.Moses Magogo.

The player he loves most.

Khasim is a die hard fan of Denis Onyango since childhood as he recalls,

I was a goalkeeper during my school days and Denis Onyango was my role model so that’s the background for the endless love I have for him. When I met Onyango upon his request after noticing the love i had for him by always raising a placard with his name on I really felt like i was in a dream, he recieved me well at his home and gave me 500,000/=shs with goalkeeping gloves and his Mamelodi Sundowns jersey.

What he does besides supporting football.

Khasim Kyazze is a taxi conductor and recently learnt how to drive although he has not acquired to driving license to make him an official qualified driver. He also plays football as a goalkeeper in his leisure time as well as painting like he did to his house in Luzira, Kirombe decorating it with national colours, KCCA FC logo, Denis Onyango and Mamelodi Sundowns and Uganda Cranes and slogans which pictures have gone viral.

 

 

His message to football lovers and attributions to his success.

I call upon all Ugandans to come back to stadiums not only when Uganda Cranes is playing but also during club football. If we don’t love our nation then no one can love it for us. Finally I thank the FUFA president Eng.Moses Magogo for all his support and love for me, KCCA FC team, Ex-KCCA FC chairman Julius Kabugo the current chairman Ashaba Aggrey, my mother and father, the media and every one in their respective capacities….I just want to say thank you as the struggle continues.
