Stanbic Uganda Cup: Joseph Nsubuga strike sends SC.Villa into the quarters as Vipers SC, Kansai Plascon and Kitara FC also sail through

The Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 did come to an end this evening with four massive encounters at different play grounds across the country.

At Muteesa ll Stadium, Wankulukuku, SC.Villa over came FUFA Big league side Ndejje University with a narrow 1-0 win in a highly contested battle. Right back Joseph Nsubaga netted the only goal of the match in the 42minute off a Martin Kiiza set piece. Martin Kiiza with a few minutes to end the match had a chance to ice the cake but for the briliance of Ndejje goalkeeper. The game saw SC.Villa coach Wasswa Bbosa bring on Simon Sserunkuma and Davis Kasirye in the second half hoping to add on more goals but all in vain.

At St.Marys stadium Kitende, Erisa Sekisambu’s 39th minute penalty is all that Vipers SC needed to progress to the quarter finals past FUFA Big league side Kira United in a match the visitors put up a very spirited performance despite the result. The venoms missed the services of Taddeo Lwanga, Skipper Nicholas Wadada and Milton Karisa who are currently with the national team, the Uganda Cranes.

At Kayeeka Stadium in Mbarara, FUFA Big league side Kansai Plascon condemned Mbarara City FC to a 0-3 shocking defeat to storm the quarter finals. Henry Kitegenyi scored a brace in the 43rd and 83rd minutes with Jamal Sijali getting the other.

At Kitara grounds, Derrick Tekwo’s Kitara FC defeated Seeta United 4-0 to make it to the quarter finals. Mupenge Bula, Yasin Mubiru, Alinde Herbert Billy and Komakech Serial scored the all important goals for the home side.

This makes it a total of eight(8) teams that have qualified for the Quarter finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup. These include;

KCCA FC, Proline FC, Synergy FC, KJT, SC.Villa, Vipers SC, Kansai Plascon and Kitara FC.

Draws for the Quarter finals will be conducted soon and usual we shall keep you posted.
