Shida Leni named Nile Special USPA sports personality of February

Female 400m athlete Shida Leni was voted Nile Special USPA sports personality for the month of February with 340points by sports journalists during their monthly meetings on Monday at Imperial Royale Hotel, kampala

In February, Leni became the first lady to qualify during the national trials for common wealth games. She qualified for the common wealth games during the fourth trial making 52secs’ 87. She then came back in the 6th trial making 52secs’47 breaking Justine Bayiga’s 10year record of 52secs’48 that she put up during the out door championships in Khartoum, Sudan in 2008.
However, this didnot come on a silver plate for Leni as she faced stiff competion from the Silver Bucks (Basketball) who came second with 325points as well as KCCA FC, cross country athelete Thomas Ayiekho and another athelete in Jacob Kiplimo.
